Alternator swap question
This question has probabaly been asked a million times, but I found no answer to it, browsing the boards.
I'm wondering if there's a way that an older GM alternator could be substituted for a single wire unit.
The reason I'm asking is because I'm doing an engine swap and I've discovered that both my water pump and my alt. are shot and I have a spare of both those parts from an older project, so If it were possible to set up all the accessories to operate off a v belt rather than a serp belt, it would save me a over $100.
thanks
