need help with headlights/brake lights

On my 84TA, there appears to be 3 bulbs in each taillight. When I push the brake pedal, the inner 2 bulbs on each side are lit up, and the outer 1 is lit, but dim.
Now, when the headlights are on, and I push the brake pedal, NOTHING changes. The rear taillights stay light up the same way.
Anyone have any ideas as to what could be wrong?

I think the wrong bulbs could be in the sockets. What are the part numbers supposed to be?
Also, which bulbs are supposed to be illuminated with the headlamps, and which ones for the brake lamps?

1156 single filament, is one intensity, and has a single contact on the bottom of the bulb.

1157 (or 2057) is double filament, is two intensities, and has two contacts on the bottom of the bulb.

If you interchange bulbs in sockets where thay do not belong you can get similar results as you did.

If a problem persists, check condition of your ground wires for the rear lighting circuit and make sure that there is no corrosion inside the light sockets.

good luck

1157 (or 2057) = Parking and brake lights = outer most lights

1156 = Parking lights or reverse only = located towards the center of your tailights
