Replacing a steering column......

Has anyone replaced the tilt steering column on there third gen? If so, what was involved and how much of a job is it? I am thinking about doing the job myself and just need some advise. Thanks for the help......

-Remove the underdash trim to expose the coulmn bracing.
-Remove the bolt holding the intermediate (sp?) shaft to the column under the hood (at the firewall).
-Remove the 3 hex screws at the base of the column at the firewall (inside car).
-Remove the 2 nuts holding the column to the bracing under the dash.
-Lower column and unplug all wiring.
-Pull column out.
-Installation is reverse of removal.
Can be completed w/in an hour if you're motivated.

Thanks for the reply. I believe I can do that. The local salvage yard has a nice tilt column with the steering wheel for $125, I will be picking it up on Monday. Again thanks for the info......

I'm assuming you're talking about a yard that has the parts pre-pulled or does it for you for $125
I've put 2 in my old camaro (original one pre-broke, 2nd, my-bad) and I paid $15 for one (pull it yourself) and $30 for the other with matching delay wiper motor. I'd hate to see anyone pay $125 to pull it themselves. Even with no (to the pull a part), I'd try to haggle a little ($25 maybe).. it is from a junkyard afterall.
Either way, it is a fairly easy DIY project that can be done w/o special tools and is cheaper than having someone else do it for you.
