ok so here is my problem Today my cars lights seemed to be weak so i checked some other things

1. When i would use turn signal the light would blink but not as fast or it would just stay on

2. The lights on my dash do not seem to turn on

3. the dome light and certousy lights stil come on

4. When I turn the high beams on the radio flashes off them comes back on.

I am sure its the alt because i have recently replaced it also replaced rotor cap and wires but don't see how that will afect anything so what is your opinion

 

well if you wanna know if its really the altornator, start the car, and disconnect the negative battery cable, if the car dies then your alt is shot, also if the car stays running be sure and turn on ALL accessorys to make sure that your getting a current draw, in my girlfriends 94 it would run without the battery,but as soon as i told her to turn the headlights on it died, also you can take it off and have NAPA test it for free.....

 

Never ever do that to test your charging system. The resulting damage could cost more than an alt. if you have a voltmeter simply place it across the battery and rev the engine a little. Voltage should swing from approx 13.5-14.5 volts on average. Judging from your problem I would say it is the alt, but if you can't test it yourself have it tested. Lifting off a battery terminal is NOT the way to do it.
