I am currently looking at getting a 1985 Berlinetta, but the digital dash doesn't always work. The guy said that every now and then it will come on, but will then go back off. It keeps track of the milage though. Just wondering what this might be? Sounds like a loose wire to me, but I have never owned one of these cars before. Is it something that could most likley be easy to fix?

 

After years of use in various environmental conditions, the internal components of the Berlinetta cluster often fail. I'm sure that your problem is located somewhere on the circuit boards inside the cluster...... Not really a "wiring" problem.

One of the most common problems is the printed circuit on the back of the Berlinetta cluster. There was a design flaw that bent the printed circuit "ribbon" to much and after being creased for so long - they are all beginning to break. The printed circuit only controls the gauges and the gauge "back-lighting" ........ The Circuit boards control all the "digital" functions and pass signals to the Printed circuit.

Let's just hope that the circuit boards inside of your cluster do not look like this set !!!!!
