The electric door locks in my 88 GTA started going crazy on me today. They are unlocking by themselves! Going down the road, it sounds like somebody is repatedly pressing the unlock button. I've traced the wires, and nothing is shorting out. It does it when the car is off and parked too. So, it unlocks itself while it's parked. Not good! Don't want somebody to steal my radio and sub, or the car. I disconnected and removed that silver silenoid thing that they're pluggd into which is in that lower panel under the dash right in front of the drivers door. It was clicking and making funny noises. So, it's stopped now, but my power door locks don't work! Could this silenoid thing be bad? Thanks for any info! Matt

 

Doubt it... The door lock button itself is probably bad. I've take one apart on my camaro and it's a simple touch switch like you see on older calculator and computer keyboards. Just replace them. I think they keep them in stock at Pep Boys or Auto Zone in the "Help" section.

 

try using the driver side button and unhook the passengers side and vice versa to find out what if any door lock switch is bad...
