Hi, i have an 82 trans am, with a newer 350. the cars body is in good shape, lil surface rust, and the engine runs and sounds awesome, but the electrical in the car is iffy. I dont know if it is repairable (without paying tons a cash) the power seats dont work, the dash dials are off, the radio sounds very funny. I think its because the t tops leak. I think i may just sell it cheap to someone who has experience with this. does anybody have any idea if its worth keeping for a novice like me?? thanks

i have the same type of problem with an 84 camaro that i have. i ended up keeping the car off the road this spring, and i'm going to work on the car piece by piece.

your question might be better answered if it were in the electronics board. i'm going to move it over for you.

I consider myself a novice, and I've learned a ton about my electrical system by removing the entire dash to the firewall and tracing almost every wire.

Start by getting the GM shop manual for the 82 Firebird. Go to www.helminc.com and buy it! The manual lists every single wire and circuit, and is specific to your year car. (There are a few glitches, but not many).

I've installed power door locks, power mirrors, power antenna, aftermarket cruise control, rewired the radio, etc. and I had very little prior experience.

Then again, if you want to sell, I'll buy your car for a few bucks
