gauge

The gauge that shows the engine RPM (i dont know what its called in english) is behaving rather strange. When i turn off the engine the needle stays at 1000 rpm or so and then when i turn the ignition on the needle jumps down to zero, if i turn off the ignintion again it jumps back to 1000rpm or so. Now why is it doing that???

I think it has something to do with magnets... When you have the ignition on, it powers the electro magnet in the tach, and pulls it down to whatever the reading is (zero in this case). When you take away the power, it just floats to wherever it wants to be.

That's my theory on it, whether or not it's correct is another story.

ANd....it's a tachometer
