fuel pump problem

Transmission: 700r4
Axle/Gears: 3:23
fuel pump problem
My fuel pump is not coming on, this is a connector between the fuel pump fuse and the positive battery cable. Any ideas what may have caused it to melt above the orange wire? It is a 1990 GTA 5.7 TPI.
