Welcome to the boards!

I dont see how it would be hard on the electrical system at all. I mean unless it has a hard time starting and sits there and cranks until its started, wearing down the battery or something....
Other than that I dont see how it could be...

Some of the older remote start units would crank the starter continuosly until they recieved a tach signal that the engine was running. But the modern ones crank the starter for a second or two and if the car has not started, shut off the ignition for a few seconds and then try to restart the car a couple more times.

Remote start is a convienence during both the summer & winter. During the winter, it helps melt stubborn ice & snow. During the summer you can run the air conditioner for a few minutes to cool the car off before you get inside.

If you store your car at night in a garage attached to your home, remote start can be a dangerous though as you may inadvertently fill your house with exhaust fumes.

Yep, if you want to add an alarm, your best solution would be to yank the old remote start unit and install a combo alarm & remote starter unit.
