Rear Hatch Opener
Does anybody out there have an 83 Trans AM with a funtional electric rear hatch opener? I need to know because we are putting my 83 Trans AM wiring into my 86 because we swapped motors out of the two cars and i am replacing my 2.8L with my 305HO out of the 83 Trans AM. The problem is that we cannot get any power from the hatch opener button to lift the hatch, we managed to locate the locking mechanism wire but we can't get any power to the back there to lift the unit up. I need to who which wire is supplying power for the unit? There was a relay on my 86 for the Hatch opener but there wasn't one on the 83 and we need to figure out what we can do before anything else is done to my car. Can someone please help me out???

You should just need the engine harness why are you swapping the whole cars harness?
But about the hatch release, iirc there is a thick guage wire giving the unit constant power then a smaller black with a brown stripe wire coming from the switch which gives it power when the switch is pressed.
