Battery relocation question
I'll be relocating my battery soon for the SLP cold air intake (dual) and I have a couple of questions. First, what's the best way to mount the battery box in the spare tire well? Second, the battery cable will be going to the starter-what about the smaller gauge wire that comes off the terminal end of the cable? Can I take it from the starter and run it to the junction block located on the radiator core support or will I have to run a seperate wire from the battery to the junction block located on the radiator core support?
l just did this same thing on my 83 Z28. I used a battery box for a boat. It came with a top cover and tie down brackets. I used #2 welding cable from battery hot side to the starter. I used #4 cable from the ground and grounded it to the body by the spare tire. The original battery cable I left in place since the small wire was connected to it and cut off the cable clamp and sealed the end. I bent the old cable back to hide it and installed a good ground cable from the engine to the body. Works great with no problems. about an hours time to do this
