it seems I had a similar problem on my 87 Iroc
Although I was concerned with the heater blower motor
same fan and switch though eh
sometime it would work , sometime not, then not at all
I ended up replacing the speed switch on the heater/AC controls
bad contacts I asumed, then it worked fine for me.
I would suppose you could check this by pulling out the heater AC control and unplugging the switch, and hot wiring each position
,,,,low mendium and high
and if your blower motor runs, and runs at each speed I would think your problem would be the switch.
Or hot wire the blower motor in the engine compartment, just to find out if the blower motor is working, or has gone bad.
that would be eisiest, just run a power wire from battery, pull the power lead off the blower motor and touch your jumper wire on the post on the blower motor, if it runs the problem is elsewhere.
or ya could just take it to the shop,,,,,,,,,,nawwwwwww

I had the same problem on my monte carlo ss and my s-10 it wasn't the switch in both cases there is a relay mounted under the hood on the heater unit all you have to do is replace it it is only held on by two small screws and is around 11 dollars at autozone if i remember right.
