no power to hatch pull down
no power to hatch pull down
I got a new power pull-down motor. When I installed, I have no power to ppd or the inside hatch light or 3rd brake light. Where do I start my trouble shoot on this?

The power source for the hatch pull-down unit is the red with white stripe wire. It is constant hot and powered by the #3 fuse which is a 15 amp (third from the left in the top row). Inside hatch light is powered through the hatch pull-down unit on your car. So if you get the power fixed for the pull-down unit it is fixed for both.
The HMSL (High Mount Stop Light) or third brake light is powered through the pad to the left of the pull-down unit. The contact pins from the hatch ONLY provide power to the HMSL when the hatch is closed. It you are testing the HMSL lamp with the hatch open it won't be powered. You may need to clean the contact strip where the bulbs connect. New bulbs can be purchased at Radio Shack. They are a 20 amp 12v halogen bi-pin bulb. Don't touch the bulb with your finger. The oils from your finger will create a hot spot that will quickly burn out the new bulb.
