broken gauge blues
I've got those "why don't my fukin gauges work anymore" blues.
So, ever since I bought my IROC, my fuel and temp gauge have not worked. The sender for the fuel gauge has already been replaved, but still it does not work. I know I am not the only person who has had these problems with their gauges. Is their a permanent solution to this problem ? I cant afford a new gauge cluster. Also, I don't know where to get the "pbc" sheet behind the gauge assmembly as many believe it is the problem. Has anyone found a cure to the broken gauge blues?

What to the gauges do as of now ?
An open circuit in the fuel wiring will cause the gauge to read max full. An open in the temp will cause the temp to read max low. If you pull the temp sender wire and ground it, it should make the gauge read max hot. If it does this replace the sender. If not, there is a fault in the circuit between the sender and the gauge. The gauge should also do a full hot sweep when cranking the car to show it's working (ignition switch grounds the gauge as a test during start).
Obviously you know the gas sender is good, but, if you ground the lead to the fuel sender, it should read max empty. If it doesn't there is a break in the circuit somewhere between the sender and the gauge.

I dont know if youve checked it or not, but my 86 ROC has a fuse for the gauges. If its blown none of them will work, except speedo because thats mechancal. Hope that helps some.
