Dash light problem on 86 Berlinetta

Car: 86 Berlinetta.

Problem:

The dash lights work until I turn on the headlights. Once the headlights are turned on all the lights in the dash go out. Does anyone know what the problem might be?? I've tested all the fuses, wires, lights and I've checked the dimmer switch.

Re: Dash light problem on 86 Berlinetta

About 90% of the time that problem is caused by a bad Dimmer circuit in the Light Module.

About 9% of the time the Dimmer Rheostat control is not making contact with - or there is damage to - the circuit board.

About 1% of the time the Rheostat is not adjusted properly !! ( turned down to low )

The light control module is no longer made by GM/ACDELCO. You will have to either get a used one from the junk yard or ebay or pull the light control module and have it rebuilt. I just pulled mine today and I am shipping it out tomorrow to have it rebuilt for $150. My light module just died and my hazards wont stop flashing, the blinkers stopped working, the interior lights won't turn off and the head lights won't turn on lol.
