Charging Battery While Powering Car?

Searched for this topic but didn’t find anything.

I work on my car a lot when it’s stored for the winter. Doors are usually open so courtesy light is on, I fiddle with the power windows, etc.

I usually have a battery charger connected to constantly charge the battery while I work on the car. Is it bad to simultaneously charge a battery while it is still connected to the car and powering items like lights and windows?

BTW, I’m not running the car with the charger connected.

Well the alternator is charging the battery while the battery is being used. I don't see how charging it with a charger is any different.

Yeah, that's what I thought, but wasn't sure. Thanks.
