Two "L" shaped brackets with MSD GM Coil?

Two "L" shaped brackets with MSD GM Coil (part#MSD-8226)? Do these serve a purpose? I thought the coil would just mount to the original coil bracket once I drilled out those pesky rivets. The manual says to install coil using the supplied hardware, and that is the extent of the instructions. Do I need these "L" shaped brackets for some unforeseen reason? Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
Andy

You don't need them. It'll install just like the stock one with those long bolts once you've drilled out the rivets.

I didn't use them. I just mounted mine like stock, works fine after 20k miles.
