o2 Sensor wiring

all right , so I get this nice new Air/fuel ratio guage from autometer and I'm supposed to tap into the sender wire on the o2 sensor. but here's the problem, I just converted from v-6 auto to carb'd 350/5 spd. So how do I wire up the o2 sensor to monitor my mixture. I've got a bosch single wire sensor(came off a nissan product- but hey it fit the bung I had to use...) do I need to wire it intop the ignition so when the car is on it's powered or what? all help is appreciated...

I take it you dumped the ECM and everything is stand alone. Assuming you did, never put power on the sensor. Single wire O2 sensors actually develop thier own voltage, think of it as a sort of battery which it actually is. When it reaches temp, approx 500-600 degrees it generates a very low current voltage that varies with oxygen content in the exhaust. Just wire it in to the F/A meter as per the instructions.
