major problem with washer pump!

hi.......to me its a major problem especially when electrical systems are not in my top class. here is the deal.........i have an 87 tpi iroc-z and where the reservor container for the washer fluid goes...is a small eletrical pump mounted on the container that sends the washer fluid threw the small hose into the motor pump located on the firewall to the wipers. the problem is that the wire has been cut or wires been cut from the small pump and there is no female connector to it. i just bought the connector and new hose that connects from the small pump to the motor pump located on the firewall. now what i need to know is what color are the wires for that year of my car 87......not 90-92 they changed the color i think or setup but not sure. i do see wires that have been cut but not to sure if they are the ones plus im wondering if the connector was connected to a relay inside the car which there is one hanging.......cause i have many relays under the hood. if any one has an idea or a chart or diagram for the wireing that would be great or anyone have the same year as my car and model that would be perfect too. is there a way to maybe just ground the wire and just connect power wire seperately or no? sounds like a stupid question or doesnt make sense but just have to know this. thanks again for all the help in the past guys!!!:hail: :hail: :hail:

I'm not sure of the switchover year, but by looking at this:
"new hose that connects from the small pump to the motor pump located on the firewall."
Your car may not have come with the electric motor on the tank. It should have one or the other(electric on the tank or built-in to wiper motor). The hose from the electric pump on the tank should go directly to the windshield squirters. On my 82, the washer pump is built-in to the windshield wiper motor(the old style). It doesn't work, so I plan to get the new style on the tank pump. If indeed you have the washer pump built into the wiper motor and someone has swapped in the newer style washer pump on the tank, you should be able to do some simple testing on the wires to the wiper motor to figure out which ones need to be cut and sent to the tank motor.

washer pump is working

hi........thanks for the help but i couldnt find out what was what so what i did was i just took power wire and a ground wire hooked it up to the female connector.....connected it to the small washer pump.....then i took the power wire and used a toggle switch and used one of those add on circuits that i bought at pep boys.....and added it to the fuse panel where its labeled wipers. and there you go its fixed! yes i know if i turn on the wipers the small pump is goin to constantly run even with the wipers in motion but i have the kill switch or toggle switch that i can turn on when ever i need it! not the best of ideas but hey it works great!
