camaro big block swap
camaro big block swap
OK, I got a few questions for whoever can answer them. I am planning on buying this camaro for $300 bucks that I found and doesnt have a motor and tranny. I am planning on getting that camaro within the next 2 weeks and I am planning on a total re-body and a diff powertrain and interior and alot of different things to go along with it. I know you can do a big block swap on these cars but the thing is is that I am not to familiar with the whole electrical side to the motors. The motor that I want ( Recon 496 stroker w/550hp ) does not come with a distributer or any other electrical units. So this is where the question comes in. What would you suggest for a complete electrical system. I was also wondering if I would need the stock ECU at all because of a different motor but if I were to get digital gauges where would they plug into and the tach to? I am also planning in the future to procharge this beast to achieve some real nice ponies!

Just go Non-Computer...Get a normal HEI setup. You won't need the ecu for anything...Get mechanical guages....The HEI will have a tach plug on it. And then just go with a good non-computer carb on the motor....

They sell Digital Guages to work with Mechanical setups...How do you think they have them work in older cars?
