Tan/White Wire

Hello all,
I have a question: Why doe one side of the fan relay coil wire (tan/white) go directly to the voltage requlator on the ALT.? Shouldn't it be going directly to positive side of the battery? I dont understand why GM would do this. Any comments and suggestions are always apprecited.

Maybe becuase if it was attached to the battery it would be always powered and if it was on the alternator it would only be powered when the car was running.
