140 amp alt

I installed a 140 amp alternator on my car and everything went well and charging fine. The question is would the new alt increase the performance of the car? I mean it feels alot stronger than before, the RPM's move up noticably quicker. Is this something that can be expected from the change or just dumb luck. Thanks for your replies

technically, it shouldnt increase the performance of your car. if your old one was a pos and was only charging at 11 volts, than yes, a constant 14 will be more noticable. if you had a large draw on the old alternator such as stereo, than yes again - the alternator has to work less to produce the amount of amps needed for your application. thats the only way i can see a new alt making a difference in performance.
