Code 54
I ain't sure exactly what it is, but I know my 87 V6 Firebird reports this error code (54) every time I check the ECM in my car. I believe that has something to do with the fuel pump and relay, both of which I have been having problems with. I replaced the relay two months ago and have not been able to drive the car for a while, but I am wondering about this code. I replaced the relay to get the SES light to shut off, whoich it initially did, but after ten minutes or so returning home, it came back on again and this is again what it reported. I have been having problems with stalling out and initially starting the engine, and have no way of checking for pressure other than opening the Schrader valve on my fuel rail. Is this error code erroneous or does it mean something? I have cleaned all of the electrical connections from the batt to the relay and still get the code.

You haven't been to the V6 forum, have you? If so, you probably would've found this message by me: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=150163
If that won't fix your code 54, nothing will.

I didn't think to look for it that far back
Man, I wish I knew others had the same prob as I am having before I posted.
Fuel Pump Voltage Low (usually caused by defective fuel pump relay). In your case since you replaced the relay already I would look into the possibility of replacing the fuel pump. Not the easiest job in the world as I recall, but when all else fails..... When you turn the ignition to ACC can you hear the pump turn on?

I checked a flowchart, that was posted by a different member on a different post, and narrowed it down to a defective ECM. SInce my ECM has probably been replaced in the past (it is labeled as Refurbished), I suppose I should get enough money to buy a new one from GM. The pump was replaced by the previous owner just before I bought the car, and I can very clearly hear it running when the engine is running and the rear carpet and sound deadener has been removed. Now, if only someone would tell me about codes 22 and 34... those are a mystery to me... I now know that I have to replace my TPS, because the engine is faltering and stalling when I give it gas so it will stay at idle.
