Vss Question
OK, HERES WHAT I'M WORKING WITH, I'VE GOT AN 89 FORMULA FIREBIRD 305TPI, T-5 5SPEED, AND 3.42 GEARS. I HAVE SWAPPED MY TRANNY SINCE THE OLD ONE BLEW, AND THE NEW ONE HAS A MECHANICAL VSS IN IT, AND MY CAR HAS AN ELECTRIC VSS. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE I CAN FIND AN ELECTRIC VSS FOR MY CAR? OR EVEN BETTER DOES ANYBODY OUT THERE KNOW A PART # FOR THE VSS? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED AS I'M SICK OF THE IDLING PROBS AND NO SPEEDO OR ODO AND BAD GAS MILEAGE.

I USED THE OLD VSS THE FIRST TIME I SWAPPED THE TRANNY AND IT WORKED GREAT, HOWEVER I DIDN'T DO THIS SWAP AND THE PERSON THAT DID DID NOT SWAP THE VSS OUT FOR THE OLD ONE. SO NOW I NEED TO KNOW WHAT TO DO TO GET A NEW ONE AS I HAVE NO ACCESS TO MY OLD ONE ANYMORE.

I found one from Painless, the number is 60116, does anyone know if this comes with the gear? Or will i have to buy the new gear for it? Also found one through Oreillys on there website, but i have 3 different part #'s for them, they are -
S-8047 D9E Trans code
S-8048 D9A Trans code
S-8051 D9B Trans code
Does anyone know which one of these i need?

From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....
Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
Dunno anything about the Painless units....
Maybe look in the junkyards for one from an 86-up Firebird; it'll need to be from a T5 as the autos used a different unit. One from a V6 car would work as well, and be more likey to have the white driven gear you need for the 3.42's.
