HELP!!!!! With the headlight motor????
HELP!!!!! With the headlight motor????
I have been trying to figure this one out now for a couple of weeks and I need some serious HELP! I have a 1991 gta and here is the series of events that have led me up to now.
When I shut the lights they would go down and tick, to get rid of this I would un-plug the connector at the headlight and the noise would stop
Looking at the wiring diagram i thought it would be the headlight control modual.
I went and foud a used one working for $100 and put it in and still the same thing.
Went on this forum and asked the same question and was advised to change the plastic gears in the motors because they crumble and go bad.
OK
Cool I did that, I pulled out 6 perfect plastic gears and replaced them with the new ones.(the TDS KIt, great product and costomer service
) Still the same problem.
Getting more pissed off as time went by, I put the other modual(origonal one) and tried this. Same ****.
What I tried was doing the headlights one at a time. I unpluged the right side and turned the lights on and off, on and off. IT WORKS PERFECTLY. I pluged the that one back in and did the other side. That one works good too.
OK now I plug them both in and they are phucked again, ops not working again.
Is there something that I am missing, something I did wrong???
Any help would be greatly app..

when the headlights tick, it means they are not getting enough voltage to be set down against the stops...
how is your battery? how is the voltage?
i fingued this out by mistake on my 91 t/a by having a crap battery.... i put the headlights up with the motor running, thinking there would be enough charge to lower them all the way. low and behold, i put them down after the motor was shut down, and they went down most of the way, but they still ticked...
try making sure they are getting enough power.

Yes The battery is new this year. One other guy said look at the brake lights on those cars, If one is out it might effect the lights for some reason or other. I think it is far fetched but im willing to try anything right now.
