Headlight Motors?
I have noticed the past couple weeks when I have had to turn the lights on it seems as if they struggle to open up. I thought they might be hitting the new hood but when I have the hood open they still do the same thing. They will sometimes work perfectly but most of the time they struggle. I have done a search and figured it would be the bushings inside the motor and I need to replace them. What I want to know is, is there anyway to remove the motor without removing the entire headlight assembly. It looks as if the arm that moves the headlights up and down have a nut on the that attaches it to the motor. Could I remove the nut from the arm and slip the motor out after unbolting the motor or do I have to take the entire headlight assembly out? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

When I took the headlight motors out of my 85 and 85 Firebirds I didn't have to remove the whole headlight assembly.
First you will need to disconnect the wiring harness to the headlight motors. I had to unplug mine from under the car. Crank up the headlight doors manually using the *** on the top of the motor. You will need to unscrew that black cover that surrounds the headlight. The arm that connected my headlight door to the arm on the motor was not screwed on, it poped onto the the arm that is bolted to the headlight motor itself. I used a large screwdriver to carefully pry the two arms apart. There should only be 3 bolts left that hold the headlight motor in. Take those out and you should be set.
This method worked for my cars, but I'm not sure if through the years they changed the way that the motors mounted in the cars.
I had to use a visegrips to get the two arms to pop back together when I reinstalled the motor.
