MSD Ignition/Coil What to expect?
Does an MSD 6 ignition, Blaster coil, and New plugs/wires actually do that much? I'm debating spending about $250 bux if its not going to help anything. If u know about how much hp gain or 1/4 time reduction let me know.

I can't give you any hp gain data but, I have all MSD ignition and the biggest benifit I got was a little better gas milage, easier starts and a smoother running engine. I'm sure there was a slight gain over the stock ignition but nothing spectacular.
On a dead stock motor, I doubt there would be of any benifit at all since there are many other things limiting it's potential besides the ignition. $250 would be better spent on something toward helping the engine breathe better (eg. cat-back exhaust or headers).

Ok, MSD or "Multiple Spark Discharge" units are ment to produce a higher quality, more accurate spark that will cause the mixture to burn faster. A stock ignition system starts "skipping" sparks at about 4800 RPM. MSD does not...period. In comparison, Accel will spin to just under 10000 RPM before it "skips" sparks. Both of these RPM ratings are well beyond any RPM you would spin on the street. I do agree that until you take care of some of the greater restrictions in a stock engine, the MSD ignition will not make much difference besides the ones stated above by deadbird

I was looking at hooker comp headers high flow cat and aerochamber muffler but I figured I might want to consider this electrical stuff. Maybee later down the road. X-mas is coming soon
