ok well let me start by saying i have a replaced steering column and no ignition key.
i was always interested in a push button ignition so i mine as well have one now.
i bought a on/off toggle switch for the ignition and a push button starter. can someone please tell me how to go about setting this up. be as specific as possible like location and color of any wires i need to splice or cut. everything is hooked up as it would be if i never got a new steering column just dont have a key.

ok well i did a search and got a few tips. still not clear on how to go about doing this.
if possible i just want to get the wires from the ignition (which i do not know where they are or what they look like) and wire to a toggle switch. then have the "start" wire(s) hooked up to a pushbutton.
if this can be done please give me a step by step plan on going about it.
while i was doing my search i read that i would need to disable the wheel lock mechanism and the shifter lock mechanism for automatics. i know how to take care of the wheel lock but what about the automatic lock?

Wouldn't it be easier and more practical to simply get a new lock cylinder with a new key. Your just making it a lot less work for the theif that wants to steal your car.

for the steering lock, take apart the column remove the locking pin and spring, and re assemble the column.
for the shifter lock, undo it at the shifter..... its the smaller cable..
if you wanted to be slick, figure out how it mounts to the column and remove it all together.
for the wiring, i would look at your actual ignition switch, and figure it out from there.
if you have VATS you need to bypass it. theres a tech artical if you look on here about how to do it.
shouldnt be too hard.
thats about as indepth as anyone here is going to go, since you should be able to figure it out from there.. if you cant, you shouldnt be attempting it anyway..
and any more indepth would be telling everyone how to steal our cars (kinda)
