Reprogram My TBI (ECM) PROM Computer Chip
Reprogram My TBI (ECM) PROM Computer Chip
Hi everyone, I have a 1989 Camaro that have a 305 TBI engine,
and I changed the engine to a 350.. I used the TBI from my 305.
I was just reading a artical on reprograming your (ECM) Prome
chip at:
http://www.goingfaster.com/spo/tbi.html
This is what it said that caught my eye!
So, if your new TBI swap out is going to be intended for mild operations, like what you used your 305 for in the first place, fine. Keep the stock PROM. If, however, you are going to want to rip pavement, and you don't care about sad trees, crying hippys, or wilting flowers (none of which will really happen ...), then yank the PROM out and deprogram your ECM.
You'll find a rebel monster inside just waiting to be unchained.
Ok, He doesnt say to put your chip back in..
This is my question.
If you take the chip out can you leave it out?
Or do you have to plug it back in?
What would happen if I were to leave out?
Please someone reply ASAP..
Thanks,
Doc

if you take the chip out, the car won't run. period.
of course you can get into custom tuning your chip, check ou tthe DIY-PROM board.
