putting switches in car, stealthy

looking for ideas on where to put some switches..

has anyone attempted putting switches to control various things in the roof? If so, how did you run the wires? and where did you put the relays etc? any pictures..

or is there another great spot to put switches that i am missing?

Thanks

I ran a switch in my old berretta for fog lights in a homemade console connected to the roof. Ran the wires along the head liner and down the side to the door. Then out to the engine area. Plug up to a source in the fuse box. Looked great. You could not tell it was not factory. I basically ran just like factory lines would be.

You mentioned in the title "stealthy"....but didn't say anything about it in the post. I assume you are trying to find stealthy ways/places to put switches? It also depends on the degree of stealth you want.

Advance Auto (and I'm sure other places as well) has a small round black push button switch that looks like it could pass as factory to the untrained eye......especially when mounted to an to the strock overhead console.

Here are some "slealthy" places to put these switches

-mounted somewhere on an overhead console.

-mounted where the ash tray goes (if you don't smoke)

-mounted on the inside front wall of the center console

Here are some super-stealthy places to mount a switch (would need additional work....they don't use the Advance auto switch)

-if you are missing the factory option of either: fog lights, rear defrost, trucnk release, or performance sound. then you could buy one of these factory switches on ebay, mount it in it's correct position and then wire it up to something of your choice

-if you have the push-button HVAC controls, don't drive your car in the winter, and have removed the air conditioning,...then you could try to wire switches into those switches.

those are some very good ideas.. of all the options you mentioned, I don't smoke.. so that would be ***, but i already thought of that.. I have alot of stereo wires jammed behind the stereo. and there really isn't much room for more, so that was why i was thinking of the roof. Like Knight Rider only alot less geeky. I'd need quite a few.. 1 for the pwoer antenna (override for cd player), a bank for my total fan control. plus 2 or 3 more for expansion....
hmmm there's always the steering wheel controls.. ... hmm.

anyway.. thanks
