relay question.

i'm having a friend do a remote mount starter solenoid on one of my cars....

i need an accessory relay (terminals 85, 86, 87, 87a, 30) that is rated for 50 amps or more.

the biggest one i was able to find in doing a quick search at work the other day was a 30 amp. part number of that relay is AR204.

any ideas? i'd like to find a relay with the same pattern if possible.

The high speed blower motor relay is rated at 40 amp continuous, and 50 or 55 peak. It's a 5 pin SPDT relay also, just like the standard BOSCH type you're looking for. Any boneyard will have that if you can't find a new one with that rating.

the closest thing i could find was an a/c high blower relay, but it was only 4 terminals....

Why so big? The solenoid itself does not need much in the way of current to fire the contacts. TYCO number VF4-15F11-S01 is a 12volt coil rated at 40 amps continuous current in a nice small package. Generally truck service places carry them. I replaced the very troublesome fan relays with them and they have been wonderful as far as reliability. You can get sockets that are cascadeable for multiple relay configurations for them.

update, i found a relay at a local stereo shop that is actually used for alarm systems.

so far it's held with no problems. if it blows out, i'll find another alternative

it is a 30/40 amp relay.

i can get a better description the next time i'm out to work on the car.
