could a burnt spark plug wires tripin code??

hey, ive been getting code 43 "43. Low voltage at electronic spark timing circuit" a couple weeks after i installed my headers, full exhaust, and full emmisions delete. i thought it would be the knock sensor so i changed it. the car was running ok for a couple hours, then when i romp on it the code tripped again, and im pretty sure the car retarded the timimng. after i installed the headers im pretty sure i damaged/burnt some spark plug wires. is it possible that damaged plug wires would trip #43? if not,,, WHAT AM I LEFT WITH HERE??? thanks.

It sounds to me like one of your plug wires is grounding out on the headers. Go out and get a new set and route them away from the headers, or get some heat shielding for the headers to keep from burning the wires again.

i do have the heat sheild on them, but i didnt put them on immediatly after instAlling the headers. i tried routing the wires as best as possible away ffrrom the headers. the main reason why i believe the wires are damaged, is after i put the heat sheilding tape i noticed that tiny like static sparks come from parts of the wires... any other thoughts?

its a heat sheilding tape for the wires, not headers...

Nope. I've seen a sort of aluminum foil-like wrap that fits over the headers and is supposed to drop the heat in the engine compartment drastically. I can't use them myself, but it's worth a shot for someone else to try and see how they work. And if you see sparks coming from the plug wires at all before the plugs, they definitely need to be replaced as the insulation on them is shot. Also you might need to replace the ignition module since I am not sure what grounding a plug wire (or more than one) will do to it.

No, it's inside the distributor under the rotor. You'll see it- it's attached to the distributor bottom with two machine screws.
