Oil Pressure Sender

Hallo to everybody !!!
I´ve swapped my engine ( 1985 / 305 / TPI ) for a 350 ( don´t know the year, the casting-number is 10054727 ).
Cause my oil pressure reading is very inaccurate ( while idling next to the red mark, while cruising about 20 to 30 PSI ), I wan´t to install an new pressure sender. Now my question : At the moment I have the 1 wire bell shaped thing next to the distributor. Can I use the 3 wire combo sender/pressure switch and what´s about the connectors ?
Thanks,
Uwe

No, you can't use it. You need to get a 1-wire replacement. Those things go bad a lot. And they will ask you what your guage goes up to. Ours are 60.

Only one opinion ??? - Perhaps I should mention that my new engine is newer than the old one. ( one piece rear main seal / center bolt valve covers )

The 3 wire "sender" was actually the sender and oil pressure switch in one unit. So, you "could" use it if you rewired your pressure switch and sender wires into a connector for the combo unit, but you wouldn't be getting a "better" sender, just one with more parts in it.
Just get a new sender for what you have. I would reccomend getting an AC Delco sender. I've tried the aftermarket ones and none of them lasted more than a month, the Delco replacement is going on 10 years old now and works fine.

Morley,
thank you for your response. Perhaps you´ve a part-number for me, cause in Germany it´s hard to get the right parts.

Either of these P/N's should work
10007393
14036243

Here is a little something I found on them:
GENERAL MOTORS 10007393
14036243
CHEVROLET..........................1990-1981
CHEV/GMC TURCKS & VANS..1990-1981
OLDSMOBILE.........................1989-1978
PONTIAC...............................1988-1980
0-3 PSI - 00-05 ohms
3-7 PSI - 13-26 ohms
45 PSI - 55-83 ohms
60 PSI - 70-105 ohms

So with a set up like a mityvac to apply pressure and an ohm meter you can check yours to see if it really is malfunctioning.
