Free ****
Ok, I'm sorry guys, but there really is no free ****. I just needed a lot of you to look at this because I really need help. So here's the deal:
I have a 88 Firebird Formula with a 5-speed that came stock with a 305 TBI and an open differential with drum brakes. I recently purchased an 86 iroc with a 350 MPFI and a posi rear with disc brakes, which I plan on swapping into my firebird. However, I was wondering if you guys knew if I could just swap the computer from the Camaro into my bird without running all new wires to my power doors and dome light and basically everything behind the firewall. I was hoping that I could just swap computers and run the engine wiring harness off of the camaro through the engine. So basically, use the camaro's computer and engine wiring harness to run all the sensors and whatnot through my engine, but keep the stock firebird body wiring harness's untouched. Or, do I have to swap everysingle wire from the camaro into the bird....? Thanks for your help, and sorry again for the syk.

You can leave all of the wiring behind the firewall the same but you are going to have some wires that don't match up on the connector going through the firewall so you might have to play with those wires to get everything (wipers, etc.) to work.

you *******
well ok, the engine harness & ecm are on their own so what you have to do is drop the motor and harness. The easiest thing to do would be drop the engine kmember and swap the whole engine tranny to the other car. ALSO you WILL need to put the TPI fuel pump in your car that the 350's going in, the 9 psi TBI pump won't cut it.... also while your at it you should install new fuel lines...... pitfa

Haha, I'm sorry guys, I know you guys are the best, I just really needed a lot of people to respond because I really want this project to be moving on. I live in MA right near Boston in the burbs. And Ok, so I have an 88 firebird with an open differential and drums in the rear, a 305 TBI with a 5-speed. I just bought an 86 iroc-z z28 with a 350 MPFI, automatic 700-r4 tranny and posi with discs. I'm swapping everything from the camaro into my bird, except the automatic tranny which im selling to my cousins friend. I'm swapping the brakes, brake booster, engine, rearend etc. I was only worried about swapping the computers because I wasnt sure if they would match up or what, because I havent done a computer swap before. So basically I take out the computer and the engine harness and it should transfer over to everything behind my birds firewall?? Is there any problems I should encounter or look out for? Also, any tips on making a computer swap any easier would be awesome. Thanks guys, and sorry again for the porno tease.
