I took the doors off of my 86 trans am, and the power windows are stuck up.
I looked at the harness that comes out, and followed it to the fuse box. I hooked it up to a battery charger set of 6v, black/ground to ground, and an orange with to +, tried hitting the window switches...nothing. tried the same with the other wires...
does anyone know what to wires control the power windows?
thanks

It requires 12 volts to operate the windows.

I'm not sure about the wire colors, but if you want to put the windows down, apply power to pin "A" of the window (drivers side, pin "B" passenger side) motor and ground. Or lay the doors on something high enough and close to the car, hook up the wiring harness to the window motor and the battery and use the window switches.

therein lies the problem. i cut the harness to get the doors off.
i'm having problems finding a wiring diagram that'll tell me the colors i need to use.

Ok N8MAN1068,
I'm not sure about the wire colors on your model, but they should be about the same as mine. On the drivers side, you will need the brown wire and the black wire, passenger side will be the tan wire and the black wire. I noticed that in your first post you mentioned an orange wire. Look at your wire harness connectors. You will need to connect the wire for pin "A" & "B" on each one.

if it was me and i really wanted them down, id just pop the door panel off, and apply power directly to the motor...
