My Power Antenna Is Alive!!!
I've had the car since 2000 and the power antenna has NEVER worked! Suddenly today, I go outside and my car is making a funny, motorized noise. It's coming from the antenna. It still doesn't move, but it runs all the time, even when the car is off. I had to disconnect the battery to stop it. I'll probably try to look at it this weekend when I get time. Any ideas? I can't understand why it would start making noise after 3 years!

I believe you should have a relay under the pass side of the dash (if need be, try the wiring from the radio to it). Unhook the relay and you should be fine.

The plastic "cable" that connects the motor to the antenna and makes it go up and down is broke. It's relatively cheap/easy to replace.

So that would cause it to run constantly, even with the car off???

Yes. With the cable broke, it doesn't know where the antenna is, so it keeps trying to retract it, even after you shut the key off. When the key is on (and radio), it keeps trying to extend it. Either way, it runs ALL the time when the cable breaks.

I'm not even going to have a chance to look at it until this weekend.
