You need to change the gear at the trans that drives the speedo cable. The dealer can supply different ones based on your tire size or axle ratio.

well here is something i was told by a tech at my job. the cable where it goes into the tailshaft part of the transmission (where the speedo gears are) take the cable wire out and i was told if you the cable end to the tip of an electric drill (making sure its on snug) just spin the cable clockwise until the cable cant spin anymore, until its tight. He said this would reset everything and will work because i had a one legged rear with 3.08 and upgraded to a posi with 3.73's and my speed was off around 7-10mph. Again i havent tried it yet to see if it works but he told that it should.

That's not going to change anything. The cable is still going to turn at the same rate as before, and since there's no mechanical connection between the cable and the needle, nothing will change. The speedo pointer is turned by the use of a spinning magnetic force provided by the cable. The only thing spinning the cable with a drill would accomplish is adding or subtracting mileage from the odometer reading, and possibly weakening the needle return spring.Pete
