when we were in the process of rebuilding the motor in my trans am, we realized that my ecm harness was pretty fried, so was the distributor, bad enough that we're amazed that the car hasn't gone up in flames. the car is an 85 trans am with a 305 HO motor, a 5 speed tranny and a/c. i got a used harness out of an 84 z28 with the 305 HO motor, but i think it had an auto tranny and no a/c, because a lot of the connectors are different. what options do i have? is my only option to find a harness from a 305HO w/ 5 speed and a/c? does it have to be a trans am, or does a camaro have the same harness? how about the non HO 305, does that have the same wiring harness?

are the wires the same color at these different connectors. If they are just swap connectors, make sure the colors going to the ecm are the same. It will take some time but thats what you got to do, unless you get a harness from the exact same car.
