Correct Battery Specs?
Hi, I have an 88 Camaro IROC 305 TPI and according to some gadget my local auto place has I need a new battery.
Problem is the battery says it's rated at 735CCA and 100 minutes
The biggest battery they sell is 650CCA but these figures are all way more than my friends 99 Z28 has on its battery.
I figure the previous owner replaced the battery with this much bigger one.
Anyone know what the correct battery specs are?
Being in the UK I can't go buy a part number, I need the CCA rating etc...

Hey Focus,
I have a Firebird, and the biggest battery that will fit is a 55Ah one, it does the job well!
Only be sure to buy a good brand!(I use only Varta)
B.t.w. there are special connectors available to fit a battery with round top poles, makes the search a lot easier.

The OE battery is a Delco 72A12, newer number depending on warranty time is a 75A60, or 75A72. It is a 75 amp/hr battery. That means it will deliver fully charged 75 amps for one hour before it becomes technically discharged. CCA ratings vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, many times I think they overrate them. 500 CCA minimum should be fine for all but the most extreme situations. Up to you how high you want to go.
