Need headlight help!!!!
Jeez, last night, I'm out in the middle of friggin nowhere boonies, driving with my hi beams on, and then all of a sudden, they start flickering and flashing off. The hi beam indicator on the dash was also flickering off. The low beams work fine, so I just drove slower the rest of the way home. Low beams were steady, no flashing or flickering. WTF? Any ideas what I should look for? The bulbs are Silverstars, so they're basically stock wattage. Fogs also worked properly, no flickering.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

could be dirty contacts in the switch.. it's the only thing I can think of.. since you mentioned the High Beam Indicator was flikering also. Perhaps you just need to replace the switch. Another thing you can try first is if you can't take the switch apart, try and spray some electronic contact cleaner inside.
Unless there is a relay that controls the high beam lights.

Do you still have your stock high beam headlamps?
I'd hook those up first and see if it still does the flickering.
How long ago did you install the Silverstars?

The Silverstars have been in there for about a year. No trouble at all until now. I don't think the old bulbs are here any more.
Maybe it may be the switch in the steering column that switches between hi and low beams? How do you get at that thing in case I need to replace it?

Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
There's a circuit breaker built into the headlight switch (the one in the dash) that will cut out when it overheats from excess current passing through it. They get more sensitive with age. Upgrading to relays to operate the headlights will take most of the load off the switch. I believe there is a tech article that explains how to install them.

Maybe the lights are going out.
I was reading something about the life of the Silverstars only being about a year or so.
don't know if that is a fact, or just a rumor.

But no, if they go out, they go out and stay out, they don't flicker on and off. Both together.
that night I came across another car on the road, going the other way, and the only light he had running was *one* parking lamp. Both his headlights were out. I must have blinded him, I didn't kick out of hi beams until I was right on him because I didn't see him. Very dangerous.
