Problems with door switches
i have an alpine security/keyless entry system for my car. one day the display said i had a faulty door sensor and my dome light refused to turn off no matter what i did. i had to pull the bulb out to keep from running the battery down. i tried unhooking each of the door switches and messing with them, but nothing would turn off the light. is there anything besides the door switches that could cause this?
If the alarm has domelight supervision, the relay for it could be grounding out causing it to stay closed all the time, or the relay could be bad and it's stuck in the closed position. That would make the domelight illuminate constantly, and cause the alarm to ignore it also.
It all depends on where the alarm installer put it. It's not OE though, if that's what your wondering. It'll probably be a standard bosch type SPDT relay, that looks like a little rectangular box with 4 or 5 wires coming out of it.
