speedometer question
i dont know how many times this question has arised but i cant find the answer in the search, sorry but here it is.
i have an 80 mph speedo in my car and i just bought a 140mph speedo, will i have to adjust anything so it will show the proper reading or should the new one configure itself? its not just an overlay but actual guages with the plugs. again, im sorry for asking a question that i know has popped up before.

If you are just swapping the speedo, it's direct. If you are changing the entire gauge pod, get a schematic for the new pod year, and the old pod year and then compare the pinouts. They changed a bit throughout the years.
As far as calibration though, you shouldn't have to mess with that.

ok, i did the swap and the calibration is way off, of course. i talked to my mechanic and hes talking about sending my cluster to somewhere in texas that can recalibrate the cluster to make the necessary adjustment. gm must have a part that does that because to my understanding there were t/a's made with 140mph speedometers.
anybody have feedback
