NEW ride with problems???

Hi everyone, i am a new owner of a 88 trans am GTA.. i love the car so far and its got some power. I'm having trouble with the electric. first the dash lights dont come on, the hatch no longer pops. i dont know what this problem may be but when i try to put in a fuse for the hatch, it blows instantly!... your input on this is greatly appreciated.

An ex of mine had a 90 IROC with similar problems. Everytime I changed the fuse it'd blow as soon as you turned the lights on. It turned out to be a exposed wire from the stero. If you have an aftermarket stereo check the wiring. I'd also check any other devices like a auto starter or alarm, or something along those lines.

okay i'm gonna check that out. i'm thinking its a legit place to start cuz the previous owner did a half *** job locating wires and running power to the headunit...thanks for your input
