possible to get a new gm wiring harness?

just like the topic says, is it possible to get a new wiring harness from gm, or anywhere that sells gm parts? i need the ecm harness that goes from the computer into the engine bay, as mine is quite fried. finding a used one that matches my car exactly has been a nightmare, and i would really rather not cob something up with bits and pieces of different harnesses. btw, the car is an 85 trans am, L69, 5 speed with a/c. if you can't get a gm harness, does any aftermarket company make one that would work specifically for my car?

Painless Wiring, although most catalogs don't specify L69/LG4 (Carbed) applications.... they should in fact have one. If you go through GM, I'm sure they have what you need.... but be prepared to pay top dollar with them.

I contacted Painless Wiring a while ago, they told me that they had something that would work and gave me the number for one of their dealers. When I called them, they said they don't make anything specific. He said painless was probably talking about a universal harness that might possibly fit with a lot of work.

Might want to try Howell-efi.com. And maybe take this as the perfect opourtunity to convert to TPI or a non computer controled carb.

The Painless harness is designed to be universal. It's really designed for engine swap applications (TPI engine in a street rod, ect.). They certainly build one that would work though.

Not sure about GM. They tend to discontinue stuff like that, but give them a try anyway. Even if it is NLA they may be able to contact a dealership that has an NOS one still in stock. Top dollar though.

Last time I checked, you could still order the 90-92 TPI SD harness. If you order a painless harness, yes, it will work... But it doesn't come with the fender bulkhead (near the ECM) and all of the stock lengths and loom. The GM one will come with everything sized correctly and loomed just like your factory harness. It would take less IMHO to convert a SD TPI harness to MAF than to refit a painful harness as a factory harness.

On a similar point. Now that i'm gutting my engine bay and getting rid of the GM wiring for the TPI,I am looking to replce the wiring that runs from the big block next to the brake booster and runs down the drivers side chassis rail and to the headlights, headlight motors, side markers and spotlights.
Is this still available??

Thanks
