Power Locks

Hello,

I was just messing around with the T/A when I noticed the powerlocks sorta work. They attempt to move the locking lever however don't quite do it. I figure "hey the cars an 88 and those are probably the original actuators and they are probably tired". Has anyone actually replaced these before? I bought some a while ago off of ebay when I put remote entry on my winter car. They have a 10lb push/pull. Hooking them up is easy however I was wondering if I need to get a special power lock for this car or will the aftermarket replacements work?

you might try freeing up the linkage by using some wd40 and some grease the actuator is most likely about wore out you can buy factory actuators from the dealer for around 80.00 a side my drivers side actuator was doing that and I got away with lubing all the rods and the locking assembly and noe the doorlock works fine now. but had to replace the actuators on a ladies 89 camaro when I put a remote keyless unit in for her she went to the dealer and got the original eqp. actuators and I replaced them and oiled all the rods and related parts.

This is a common problem with our cars. More than likely, as Holo suggests, a simple clean and lube (white grease) will do the trick and extend actuator life. Worked for me.
