ECM and wiring question

I searched and found some answers, but I still have a few that need to be cleared up.

I'm putting a carbed 350 into my 91 Camaro RS (305 TBI LO3 engine) and I'm at the wiring portion of things (*** HELP US!)

A few questions:

1. Ok so the ECM can come out completely?

2. I noticed there is a wire on the ECM plugs for the in tank fuel pump? IS that going to affect the pump when the ECM is gone?

3. Is the starter/ignition equipment hooked up to the drivers side harness?

4. What about lights and wipers (read its all separate but want to make sure)

5. howcome the wiring harness from the ECM and the harness from the drivers side intermix (wrapped in tape and tubing?)

6. The wiring that goes to the transmission that controls the TCC, I know I won't need this anymore, where does it hook to and can I take it out? ( I have a kit for vacuum controlled TCC lockup)

7. Last one, next to the ECM there is something that says spark control (can't remember exactly) is that the computer control for the old HEI? If so can that come out as well??

thanks alot for all your help!!!

cheers

I guess the major question is going to be will it be a computer controlled carburator set-up. I personally feel (opinion) that it is sometimes better to have a non computer controlled distributor. That is the way I am setting up my TPI.

7. The Spark Control you speak of is "Electronic Spark Control" That is what controlls the spark on TBI and TPI engines. It will go to the distributor and have a big broad flat connector that it hooks up to.

4. Lights and wipers should be seperate.

2. The wire going to the fuel pump told the pump when to turn on and off. simple enough. You might need to change the sending unit though.

5. The harnesses should intermix because they all exit the cabin into the engine bay through the same spot. They are still seperate.

The best advice to give would be to trace everything and label everything then knowing where it comes from and goes YOU will know 100% what you can do, and not have to worry.

That's about all I can say. Hope you had as good of luck as I had.

well I got the harness completely out and my engine completely in. i figured the best way to go would be to separate the lines for the alternator, dist., and starter and then just wire the car like an older car, seeing as that is all that I really need. i got more info from someone about the fuel pump question, so i think I can fix that part of things. (gonna have to trace that one back)

Thanks for the help, and any more answers would be greatly appreciated!

cheers

oh and nothing will be controlled by the computer at all so its outta there!
