Pick-Up coil wires to IM
Well, the '87 decided to chug-a-lug on me yesterday. It spit and sputtered and died, just like it did when the Ignition module went out last January.
It spins like mad, and coughs occasionally.
While I was waiting for the tow truck, I went ahead and took the dizzie apart and sent my wife up to Autozone to have them test the IM.
Here's where I screwed up. The harness/ connector on the two little wires that run from the pick-up to the ignition module just disintegrated. I thought "No big deal, I'll just change the little harness"
No such luck. I can't get the wires loose from the pick up coil end. And, the connector on that end disintegrated as well.
How do I get these wires off the pick up coil? It looks like there's a shroud covering the whole thing. It's a ring of metal, I can turn it a partial turn, and lift it a quarter of an inch, butht not enough to get at the connector.
I'm almost inclined to just yank the damned thing out, and either rebuild the dizzy, or get a new one. But, it's darned cold here, and I don't want to spend any real time under the hood while it's snowing.
