no hi beams?

my hi beam switch doesnt engauge? i heard that theres like a gear or something in there thats busted and its hard to pull out and fix it and its easier to just buy a new unit. can i fix it myself with jb weld? or should i just buy a new unit? or could i use the wires and make a different hi beam switch some where else?

this might work, if the lever moves and the highbeams worked at one time and now you cant hear the switch engage it needs adjusting of some sort.

If you are referring to the assembly in the steering column, it is the pivot and switch assembly. There is a pin preload spring in it that has probably broken or fallen out. Your dimmer switch is part of the ignition switch assembly on the side of the steering column.
