rear hatch motor

hello. my father just purchased a 91 camaro z28 and sure enough the rear hatch nylon guides were worn out so we replaced them, checked the gears they were ok, put it all back together to try it out and the motor gets hot really fast. When we got the car the motor was unplugged, we assumed this was since the nylon guides were worn out so we dont know if it worked before we messed with the guides and motor. Anyone have any suggestions as to what we should check for? Thanks!

ok, well after some searching these forums it seems that the red w/white wire should have +12v and it does not even with the key in the on position. I thought I read there was a seperate fuse for the motor somewhere around the steering column, but could anyone tell me if this is correct and exactly where it is? Thanks!

n/m I found out what the problem was. It turns out the brushes in the motor werent seated where they should be at all. I dont know if this was because of wear or the previous owner took it apart and couldnt get it back together. so for now the motor is back together and it works, but I am having trouble getting it to actually latch and pull down the hatch. the whole rear hatch is shifted back almost 1 inch so I need to adjust that first, then possibly adjust the latch.
